SPRINGFIELD IS FOR RATTERS..

Our first Barn Hunt trial of 2026 delivered in so many ways: a gorgeous event location with some lovely weather, the cutest little AirBNB, great food and even stumbling over some surprise photo session locations for next time.

But we got a shocking surprise from Arbus: his first ZERO Q weekend! I don't know where our little rocket's brain was, but he blew through every single run, alerting on litter and just generally being insane. It's not completely surprising, but he is usually pretty serious about his rats. We might have some fine tuning to do in training before I spend any more money on entry fees for this particular sport!

But we had a great weekend, even with zero ribbons. As long as a city as good ramen and some decent parks, I'm pretty happy and Springfield has some great options for both of those. But I am excited to expand our travel circle a little bit this weekend with our upcoming trip to Amarillo, Texas. I'm planning on cramming in some gorgeous portraits in between all the trash bunny murder -- if you'd like to grab a little session, you can check out booking information here.

One of the coolest parts of the weekend was on Sunday when I half-jokingly suggested my husband pick up my Z9 and cover the 2nd ring for me. He ended up shooting almost the whole day for me and -- not to brag!! -- got some really nice stuff! And even *some* photos is better than *none* photos when it comes to covering these 2 ring events solo. It really got the gears turning in regards to him helping out at other kinds of events .. my favorite employee Auto Capture has FastCAT covered, but another angle at agility, disc and just about everything else could be really exciting! Not that I wanted to drop a whole bunch of money on a new lens this year, but it might be in the cards if I just found a permanent second shooter!

Don't forget to check out the galleries from the event here and check out the discount code banner! You can get 30% off if you order in the next two weeks.
