..With a side of rats!
While we had lots of fun in Springfield on the personal side of things while covering the Ozark Mischief Barnhunt Trial in February, I also managed to squeeze in quite a few mini sessions over that weekend -- Baylee, Ranger and a whole family of Koolies and their senior Chihuahua gal!
It's always a bit of a rush getting to photograph such a wide variety of dogs in such a rapid-fire fashion -- blind seniors, frenetic puppies and dogs with a complete disinterest in being photographed -- you just sorta pull out all the stops and pray to the art gods, while also just praying you'll be able to pull it together in post. 😅 But truly, these guys (and some delightfully overcast weather) made my job easy!
I'm really excited to already have this many portrait sessions under my belt this year. As much as I love covering events, there is definitely something that calls to the old ~art photographer~ in me when it comes to creating an intentional portrait. I've even considered whipping out the old Mamiya and a pack or two of 120.. but the idea of developing even one roll of film has me mentally reeling in ways that would have 20-something Allison laughing into her boxed wine. I used to shoot and develop at least half a dozen rolls on a good week, a baker's dozen on a bad.. those were the days, before a pack of Portra cost $100 and Fuji discontinued F-100p *wistful sigh* Anyway. Working with digital is just as nice, and I've even been playing around with some different lenses to keep things interesting.
I'm working on getting portrait booking polished up and opened for April through June -- you can always find my most current booking availability for full, mini and event mini sessions here. While this is some of my busiest time for event work, it's also my absolute favorite season (flowers! tulips! peonies!) and I do just about all I can do cram in as mini portraits during this time, so if you've been dreaming of those perfect petal-soft spring portrait photos, let's talk!
